Paramus Woman Honored for Service to Women Business Owners

Meryl Surgan, an Independent agent with AFLAC, was Honored with the Teal Heart Award by the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners.  The Teal Heart Award is presented to a member of the Bergen Chapter who has performed “above and beyond” service to the chapter.

Ms. Surgan, as Vice President of Programming for the Bergen Chapter, developed, designed and implemented a year’s worth of dynamic programs for NJAWBO members to hear outstanding speakers and enjoy networking opportunities.  While Ms. Surgan recruited more members for the programming committee, she was the driving force in locating sites, making arrangements and managing the details of the events.   More events were held because of her leadership, providing access to more women business owners in Bergen County.

Ms. Surgan was also re-elected Vice President of Programming of the Bergen Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO). During the 2007-2008 term she will continue to be responsible for arranging all meeting programs. Surgan has been a member of NJAWBO for four years.

Aflac markets affordable, voluntary supplemental insurance policies that provide cash benefits to policyholders when illness or accident reduces their ability to earn a paycheck. Benefits are designed to help pay for things that health insurance doesn’t, such as groceries, mortgage, and household repairs.
